The National Cricket Academy is a cricket facility of the BCCI in Banglore, Karnataka, India, for the purpose of developing young cricketers who have been identified as having the potential to represent the Indian cricket team . It was established in the year 2000 and is located near to the Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium [1] The facility is also used for the rehabilitation of injured players. [2]
The NCA was the brainchild of cricket administrator and former BCCI President Raj Singh Dungarpur . [3]
In 2014, BCCI tied up with both Cricket Australia and the ECB to get experts in for helping draw its new structure. BCCI decided to make these changes along the lines of the state-of-the-art high-performance centres based in Australia and England as part of the revamp of the National Cricket Academy.
In the new plan the NCA has a tie-up with the MRF Pace Foundation to train the fast bowlers from across the country. [4]
The academy sheduled to move at new facility near Bangalore airport. [4]
Former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman is the current director of the NCA. [5]

Rehabilitation centre
This facility also works as a rehabilitation centre for injuried cricketers of India cricket team. Players such as Jasprit Bumrah , Prasidh Krishna and Rishabh Pant are admitted in it as of July 2023. [15] Due to long residence of some injured players, who frequently get admitted in NCA, Ravi Shastri termed them as "permanent residents of NCA". [16]

Controversies
- Sunil Gavaskar was a member of the NCA committee in 2000 and resigned after criticism from NCA Chairperson Raj Singh Dungarpur on his comments in a newspaper column that it was not correct for NCA trainees to get a tour match at the cost of local teams. [18]
- 3 Cricketers in the 2013-14 batch – Yogeshwaran, Murali Kishore and Karn Sharma were released from the academy citing indiscipline. [17]
