List of international goals scored by Harry Kane
None
Harry Kane is an English association footballer who has represented the England national team as a forward since 2015. Kane made his debut for England in a 4–0 home win over Lithuania and scored just 80 seconds after getting substituted on. [1] Since then, Kane has scored 58 goals in 84 international appearances, making him the country's all-time top scorer and has been England captain since 2018. [2] Kane surpassed England's second-highest goalscorer of all time Bobby Charlton ( 49 ) on 7 June 2022 with his penalty against Germany , having equalled Charlton's tally three months prior against Switzerland ; also from the penalty spot. [3] [4] He equalled Wayne Rooney 's record of 53 goals on 10 December 2022 in the 2022 FIFA World Cup quarter-final against France with a penalty in the 54th minute, [5] and surpassed it in a UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying match against Italy on 23 March 2023 with a penalty in the 44th minute. [6]
Kane has played for England in the qualifying campaigns of every FIFA World Cup and European Championship since 2015. During UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying , he scored three goals in four appearances to help England qualify for the tournament , where they would end up knocked out early by Iceland . [7] During 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification , Kane appeared in six of England's ten qualifiers and scored five goals, including back-to-back winning goals in their last two matches against Slovenia and Lithuania to seal the team's trip to Russia. [8] [9] Kane became captain of England for the 2018 FIFA World Cup , where he led them to their first World Cup semi-final in 28 years and scored six goals, winning the Golden Boot . [10] During UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying , Kane scored in each of England's eight qualifying matches to help the team win their group. He scored twelve goals in total, more than any other player during the qualifying stage. [11] During UEFA Euro 2020 , Kane scored four goals, including the winner against Denmark in the semi-final, as England reached their first international final since 1966 . [12] During 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification , Kane scored twelve goals in eight appearances, the most of any European player, [13] as England topped their qualifying group again. He also became the fourth England player to score back-to-back hat-tricks after he did so in their last two games against Albania and San Marino . [14]
On 24 June 2018, Kane scored his first international hat-trick in England 's 6–1 win over Panama at the 2018 FIFA World Cup , which was England's largest ever World Cup victory. [15] [16] With his three goals against Panama, Kane became the third England player to score a hat-trick in a World Cup match, after Geoff Hurst against West Germany in the 1966 final and Gary Lineker against Poland in 1986 . [17] He has scored five international hat-tricks, and on one occasion, four international goals in a single match during England's 10–0 win against San Marino, their largest margin of victory in a competitive match. [18]
No England player has scored more penalty goals than Kane, having scored 20 penalties in 24 attempts. [19] Kane also has the most goals scored in competitive matches in an England shirt, having scored 52 of his 58 goals in non-friendly fixtures. Kane has also scored the most goals while captaining England, having scored 50 international goals wearing the captain's armband. He surpassed Vivian Woodward 's record on 14 November 2019 when he scored his third ever international hat-trick at home to Montenegro in a UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying match, which was also England's 1000th ever international game.
