The Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church ( Russian : Священный синод Русской православной церкви , tr. Sväščenný sinod Russkoj pravoslavnoj cerkvi ) serves by Church statute as the supreme administrative governing body of the Russian Orthodox Church in the periods between Bishops' Councils . [1]
